Research Abstract
Dr. Mills has a wide range of research interests related to the biomechanics and disorders of the spine. She has a particular interest in studying the natural alignment of the spine as well as the complex relationship between the hip and the spine. She has published over 40 peer reviewed articles, many of which she first authored. She has presented her research at numerous national and international meetings, including the Global Spine Congress, Cervical Spine Research Society, Lumbar Spine Research Society, North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Western Orthopaedic Association.
Short Biography
Emily S. Mills, M.D. specializes in the surgical treatment of spine disorders. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. Her clinical interests include the treatment of cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral spinal disorders. She is highly trained in complex spinal pathologies, including trauma, tumor, and deformity, including scoliosis and flat back syndrome. Dr. Mills performed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California, after which she completed spine fellowship at the University of California – Irvine.
