Short Biography
Dr Ryan Gibney is an Emergency Medicine physician and associate professor at UC Irvine medical center, and has been a member of the UCI community since undergrad. Prior to medicine he enjoyed a career in music and the restaurant and hospitality industry, making a pivot later in life to medicine. He draws on his experience in teamwork and customer service in the delivery of healthcare and strives for developing meaningful relationships with his peers and patients. Following residency, he completed the inaugural Administration and Operations Fellowship and went on to become faculty in 2022. He currently serves as the Associate Medical Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine, Medical Director for Care at Home Platform, Associate Program Director for the fellowship, Bed Czar, and a leader for the Empower Patient Progression initiative. His interests include projects related efficiency in clinical care and operations, hospital throughput, and patient experience initiatives. Outside of medicine, he loves to spend time with his family, continues to play music daily, and has a strong passion for cooking.
