Big data studies on vitreoretinal diseases and ocular oncology, surgical education, artificial intelligence for vitreoretinal surgery, intraoperative retinal surgery metrics, global health in ophthalmology
Research Abstract
Dr. Mishra’s research is focused on big data in vitreoretinal diseases and ocular oncology, surgical education, vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology pathology, and global health ophthalmology initiatives. Dr. Mishra is working on improving vitrectomy system cloud platforms in order to track intraoperative surgeon data and correlate this with surgical outcomes. He has also been a co-collaborator on big data research projects including the IRIS Registry as well as Medicare claims data for vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology. He has partnered with large eye hospitals in India including Aravind Eye Hospital and LV Prasad Eye Institute on several research projects including manual small-incision cataract surgery, creating a patent for a cataract extraction device, utilizing heads-up display for retinal surgery. He is also part of a multi-institution group on creating sickle cell retinopathy screening in Ghana.
