Research Abstract
Dr. Roy conducts interdisciplinary research relevant to planning smarter, resilient and safer cities using a data-driven approach. She leads efforts in developing machine learning and statistical models for urban planners by capturing spatio-temporal patterns from “big data” collected via disparate platforms like crowdsourced apps, remotely sensed data, LiDAR and GIS platforms. Her research facilitates policymaking from a bottom-up approach by leveraging data science methodologies with geography and urban planning.
