Research Abstract
My primary research areas include the health and social costs of inadequate employment which includes the study of the adverse effects of unemployment, discouragement, involuntary part time employment, poverty wage employment on outcomes such as depression, self-esteem, alcohol disorder, and birth weight. Another area of interest (and currently funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation) is in the progression of alcohol disorder over the adolescent and adult lifespan. This research is aimed at identifying the precursors as well as the consequences of early onset drinking among adolescents.
